From Archway to Highgate: Beautiful London Walk with History & Views

Starting our journey at the lively Archway Tavern, we quickly head up Highgate Hill, which offers stunning views of London. This hill has a fascinating history, once being part of an ancient pilgrimage route to St. Albans.

Passing by the Brendan the Navigator statue and the beautiful St Joseph's RC Parish Church, we continue our ascent up Highgate Hill, enjoying the charming streets lined with quaint shops and historic pubs.

We make a brief stop at The Bank, a local favorite, before continuing on Highgate Hill, leading us to the picturesque Southwood Lane. As we reach North Road, we see the historic Highgate School, founded in 1565, showcasing its impressive architecture.

Our walk takes us down Hampstead Lane to the Theatre at The Gatehouse, a local cultural gem. We then proceed to Highgate West Hill, home to the Highgate Scientific Institute, reflecting the village’s rich intellectual history.

Finally, we arrive at Highgate Village, with its delightful, relaxed vibe and beautiful surroundings. Highgate Village dates back to the 14th century and has retained much of its old-world charm. It’s the perfect place to end our sunny walk.
