The 78th Viswema Youth Organisation Wrestling Meet 2026 concluded with great enthusiasm and pride, reaffirming Viswema’s deep-rooted wrestling tradition and strong community spirit. The event was graced by Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Project Director of TaFMA, Government of Nagaland, as the chief guest. In his address, Dr. Hovithal Sothu emphasized the importance of preserving culture and tradition while promoting tourism and sustainable livelihoods through sports, farming, and other indigenous practices. He encouraged the youth to take pride in their heritage and to explore opportunities that can transform culture and sports into meaningful sources of livelihood.
The wrestling bouts were intense and highly competitive across all categories. In the senior category final, Kevime Vitsu (S/o Lt. Vichol Vitsu) produced an outstanding performance by defeating Kevidel Mekro (S/o Shere Mekro) to claim the championship title of the 78th Viswema Youth Organisation Wrestling Meet 2026. With this victory, Kevime Vitsu also won the much-discussed prize of a 100×100 sq. ft. plot of land, generously sponsored by Eno Tepuleho Pusa, and secured his fourth Viswema championship title. Kevidel Mekro finished as the second position holder, while Viboto Hibo (S/o Krono Hibo) claimed third place, and Kelengozo Chaya (S/o Lt. Medochol Chaya) secured the fourth position in the senior category.
The junior category also witnessed thrilling contests, reflecting the promising future of wrestling in Viswema. Zayievi Kikhi (S/o Vilozho Kikhi) emerged as the junior champion after defeating Metevito Vitsu (S/o Honotso Vitsu) in the final. Metevito Vitsu secured the second position, followed by Kevichozo Kin (S/o Nokul Kin) in third place, Asatha Sothu (S/o Tepumekro Sothu) in fourth place, and Sheketho Pusa (S/o Kikrolü Pusa) in fifth place, all of whom displayed commendable skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
Overall, the 78th Viswema Youth Organisation Wrestling Meet 2026 was a grand success, celebrating athletic excellence, cultural pride, and community unity. The event not only honored outstanding wrestlers across junior and senior categories but also reinforced the role of traditional sports in preserving identity, inspiring youth, and strengthening social bonds within Viswema.
