In a major blow to drug traffickers, the Mexican Navy seized a semisubmersible “narco sub” carrying nearly four tonnes of cocaine in the Eastern Pacific, approximately 250 nautical miles south of Manzanillo. Three suspects were arrested during the operation. Authorities say semisubmersible vessels are frequently used by transnational drug trafficking networks to evade radar detection while transporting narcotics from South America toward North American markets.
