We got them in and immediately started testing their strength, we hooked this bad girl to one of my utility trailers and Chris couldn’t get it to detach, I had to go and pull on it to finally get it to release, truly impressive strength from such a small magnet. I couldn’t imagine using a 1500lb magnet, holy smokes. So, our morning started wet to say the least, a major storm was moving through the Tampa/St. Pete area and it was relentless. We waited in the truck for hours until the storm finally moved through the bay and when the lightening passed, we jumped out and got to work. I started near the end of the south Skyway pier thinking that it may produce quickly considering everyone tends to gravitate toward the end. After about twenty minutes we made a move to another popular area near the bait store, people congregate where things are convenient. It didn’t take long before we both started pulling up small debris, hooks, lures and parts of the bridge.

After 30 or minutes or so I hook on to something heavy, and since I decided to hook my magnet directly to my rod, I was limited on what I could lift but Chris came to the rescue and he was able to attach to the object. After a short while we finally got to see a very heavy pipe, it didn’t appear to be down there long but we removed it to say the least. That was exciting, it wasn’t long after that we hook into something else, we kept detaching from this item over and over. Finally, we both got a good connection and up comes an anchor, chain and rope with a slew of lures and jigs attached. We pull it up for Chris to get pinched by a baby Stone crab, give him hell in the comment’s guys lol.
