Islam Makhachev's modified d'arce choke

Описание: This clip is from a fight between Islam Makahchev and Dustin Poirier at UFC 302. In this sequence we see Makhachev attacking with a front headlock against a turtled opponent. The turtle opponent rather than attempt to regain guard and end up on bottom position, begins to rebuild height by transitioning to a quad pod. As this gives them more mobility to begin scrambling and move between different defensive postures. However, Islam opts to maintain the front headlock, recognising where Poirier base is weak and begin creating pressure in that direction to return him to the mat. Poirier gains an underhook, with the possible intention of wrestling up. However, in that transition the underhook allows Islam to shoot his arm through for the d'arce. Going short with a grip on his forearm instead of bicep. This gives him the ability to keep Poirier's chin to his chest, allowing him to break his posture even further, bringing him off his elbow. Trapping his leg as he applies the choking pressure, to inhibit his ability to turtle or go belly down as a late stage defence.
