In a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood in Shahriar, near Tehran, there is a restaurant that feels less like a dining spot and more like stepping into the heart of northern Iran. The moment you walk through the doors, it feels as if you have traveled straight to a traditional village home in Gilan — surrounded by wood, colors, history, and the warm spirit of Persian hospitality.
This beautiful restaurant is owned by Abbas Rashti and his hardworking wife, a couple originally from Rasht in northern Iran. Abbas has spent nearly 30 years in the world of cooking, and for the past 23 years, he and his wife have stood side by side in the kitchen, building their dream together. But their journey was not easy. Abbas once worked long, exhausting days in a pastry shop after moving to Tehran. An early business partnership failed, but after marriage, he and his wife decided to start again — this time together. From a very small restaurant, they slowly built what is now one of the most beloved Gilani restaurants in Shahriar.
Inside, the restaurant is a masterpiece inspired by old “Telar” wooden houses of Gilan. The walls are filled with authentic handicrafts, century-old tools, antique televisions, a grandfather’s bicycle, and countless nostalgic objects that tell stories of the past. Traditional Gilani folk music plays gently in the background, and a woman dressed in colorful local clothing serves the food, completing the immersive village experience. It truly feels like entering a countryside home in Rasht.
The heart of this place is its authentic Gilani cuisine, prepared using traditional recipes passed down through generations. Dishes like Baqla Ghatogh, Mirza Ghasemi, Shami Rudbari, Kabab Torsh, Joojeh Torsh, and stuffed chicken with aromatic northern herbs bring the true taste of Gilan to every table. Alongside these regional specialties, classic Persian kababs like Koobideh, Chenjeh, Barg, and Soltani are grilled to perfection. Every plate reflects tradition, patience, and deep respect for centuries-old culinary culture.
Customers come from all over — locals and visitors who heard about the incredible flavors through word of mouth. The restaurant has become one of Shahriar’s most popular dining destinations, not only because of the quality of the food but because of the warmth and authenticity that fill the space. Abbas is known for his kindness and humor, while his wife’s strength and dedication are visible in every detail of the kitchen.
This is more than a restaurant. It is a living piece of Gilan’s cultural heritage — a place where food, history, music, and love come together to keep tradition alive in the heart of Iran.
