Are You Missing the Best Part of Czechia?

Описание: I fancied seeing a bit more of Czechia beyond just Prague, so in 2025 I headed off on a road trip to do just that. This video shares my journey as I went looking for some of the country's interesting history, nice towns, and decent castles. I drove through places like Pilsen – you know, where Pilsner beer first came from – and Písek, which has this really old stone bridge.
I also made sure to see a couple of the UNESCO World Heritage sites: Český Krumlov, which lots of people say is like a fairytale town (it's certainly very picturesque, I'll give it that!), and Telč, with its quite striking Renaissance square. Brno, Czechia's second city, was on my route too, and I managed to visit a couple of proper old castles like Veveří and the medieval Pernštejn. My last major stop was Kutná Hora, where St. Barbara's Cathedral is really quite something – a huge Gothic church. So, if you're wondering what else Czechia has to offer besides Prague, hopefully, this gives you a few ideas for your own 2025 adventure. I tried to get a decent feel for both Bohemia and Moravia.

In this video, I’ll run through the route I took and share what I found along the way. I was trying to see a mix of the well-known spots and a few places that perhaps aren't on every tourist map, just to give a reasonable picture of what the country’s like once you get away from the capital. For me, each stop had its own character – Pilsen with all its brewing history was interesting, Písek had a nice, peaceful feel, Telč's square was, as I said, pretty special, and Brno had a good bit of life about it.
The castles I saw, like Veveří and Pernštejn, were genuinely impressive – proper old fortresses that gave a real sense of Czechia's medieval past, and they're in some lovely locations too. And then there was Kutná Hora; St. Barbara's Cathedral there is quite the sight, especially when you learn it was all built thanks to the town's old silver mining days. This whole trip was a good reminder for me that if you venture a bit further, you often find so much more of what a country is really about.
