This tour offers a great way to enjoy Ratingen city's beautiful Green Lake/Grüner See on a sunny spring day during the coronavirus outbreak. You will see many people obey social distancing rules, which is fairly impressive. I am starting this slow ride and walk tour close to the Rhine river shore in Dusseldorf (Western Germany), then taking a relaxing and slow walk showcasing the beautiful lake and nature in the distance and then I will ride on my bicycle along the lake till I arrive at the beginning. The Green Lake is situated in the recreation park Volkardey in Ratingen City. The 110-hectare landscape park has a well-developed network of paths and is perfect for walks or a bicycle tour. There is also a dog run in the southern part of the park.

At the Green Lake you can discover the Trimm-Dich-Pfad, play beach volleyball or table tennis or play soccer on the soccer field. There are also beautiful playgrounds for the little ones.

On the lake you have the possibility to surf through the Windsurfing Club Volkardey e.V. Swimming in the green lake is forbidden, because of the typical dangers of a quarry pond (undercurrents, strong whirlpools). Even for experienced swimmers this means a life-threatening danger.
