To his admirers, Kevin Costner is giving the "littlest" life lessons.

At the star-studded One805Live! charity event on Friday, Sept. 20, at his Carpinteria, California home, the Academy Award winner sang a couple songs with his band Modern West. He opened one song in particular with a stirring message of inspiration.

Before singing "I Can't Do This Without You," the 69-year-old Yellowstone actor admitted to the assembled admirers that "sometimes" in relationships, individuals fail to mention "one thing."

"The person to our right, you know, the one that gets us through everything, your sweetheart, your wife, your whatever it is," stated Costner. "But sometimes, you know, we see everything and we just kind of forget to just say that one thing: You're important."

"Let them know that," Costner said to his audience before continuing, "sometimes it's just the littlest thing in life."

"What’s so f------ hard about going, you know, 'You're important, you've been important for a long time,'" he replied. "This song is about the necessity to search sometimes."

In addition to Pink, Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx, and others, Prince Harry, Cameron Diaz and her husband Benji Madden, Zoe Saldaña, Jeff Bridges, Rob Lowe, and Sheryl Lowe were among the guests at the charity event.

A rendition of The Turtles' 1967 hit song "Happy Together" and the tune "Chasing the Wind" were also featured in Modern West's set.

The concert assisted in raising money for the equipment and mental health resources that the local police, fire, and sheriff agencies will be using.

When it comes to teaching his 17-year-old son Cayden some life lessons, Costner has likewise not been hesitant lately. The star of Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 talked with Hollywood Authentic earlier this month about working on the film with his kid, calling it "a perfect experience."

Throughout the course of this film, he has witnessed my labor. "Cayden has known his entire life that I've talked about this thing," said Costner, a father of seven children. "And then to see me not let go of the opportunity, and the hope of it, and to actually go out and make two of them – he was able to see the culmination of that."

"It’s a weird thing when you look at your dad, I think, and see suddenly this movie playing, and the people standing and clapping for it," he continued. "I think, maybe, he saw something in not letting go of a dream, and that you keep pushing."

With his now-divorced wife, designer Christine Baumgartner, Costner has three children: Hayes, 15, and 14-year-old Grace. Along with his son Liam, 26, who he shares with his former partner Bridget Rooney, he is also the father of Annie, 40, Lily, 37, and Joe, 36, whom he shares with his ex-wife Cindy Silva.
