Audiobook Creation Exchange, or ACX, was launched by Amazon in 2011. ACX is a marketplace that connects authors, or publishers with people who are capable of reading the book and turning it into an audiobook.

They are directly partnered with Audible, Amazon and Apple and thus, will make the audiobooks available on Audible, Amazon, and iTunes to over 250 Million Customers.

10 Steps on How to Get Started Making Money Online via ACX:

1) How to get paid and make some money online:
Create a Profile

Choose a professional headshot or company logo; Provide detailed descriptions of your acting credits, awards, and achievements; Provide your website, if applicable.

2) How to get paid and make some money online:
Upload Samples

This demonstrates your range and sets you above the pack. You are required to include at least 1 sample tagged with an accent and vocal information.

Deciding how you want to get paid.

As mentioned above, there are a couple different ways to get paid:
a) a Per-Finished-Hour rate
b) Share 50% of the royalties.

***If unsure, pick both.

What does "cost per-finished-hour" mean? Audiobook producers are paid based on the length of the completed audiobook times the agreed-upon rate. ($400 per hour + 10 hrs of work = $4,000)

Audition

Go and search for books that you're interested in narrating and producing. Once you find a book, you will then record a 3-5 minutes of the manuscript.

Accept the Offer

When the Rights Holder makes you an Offer, you will agree on a few things:
The Delivery Date for the first 15 minutes of audio
The delivery date for the final audiobook
Payment terms

6) How to get paid and make some money online:
Start Recording

You will record, edit, and upload the 15-minute checkpoint of the audiobook.

7) How to get paid and make some money online:
Work with other Studio professionals

Not needed, but highly recommended.

8) How to get paid and make some money online:
Finish the recording

Upload each completed chapter of the audiobook to meet ACX's "Audio Submission Requirements" and "Production Standard Terms." See www.acx.com for full details.

GET PAID

Pay-for-production fee = you'll be paid directly by the Right Holder.
Royalty option = you'll be paid based on 50% of the royalties on sales and 50% of the $50 Bounty Payments.
