The show was produced first by the United Lutheran Church in America and later by the Lutheran Church in America. It first aired in 1961. Davey and Goliath was created by Art Clokey, Ruth Clokey, and Dick Sutcliffe. Art Clokey was also the creator of the TV series, Gumby.
