Southern Peru: Arequipa and Colca Valley

Описание: Our journey through southern Peru first took us to Arequipa, a character-rich and underrated colonial city built of white sillar, a local volcanic stone. It's as lovely as Cusco but less touristy. We very much enjoyed our stay at a chic new luxury boutique hotel, CIRQA. From Arequipa, we headed into the magnificent surrounding countryside, touring Sumbay Caves, notable for their ancient petroglyphs, and spotting vicuña. Our final destination was the Colca Valley, which leads directly into the Colca Canyon. We based ourselves at the friendly Las Casitas, A Belmond Hotel. The location was magnificently scenic. A short drive away, just past the famous Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, we had a private breakfast overlooking the canyon's edge, while condors soared above us. It was an unforgettable finish to our Peruvian explorations.
