In this week’s Good News Louisiana, LPB’s Karen LeBlanc takes us behind the scenes at Team Gleason to learn about the Speech Accessibility Project aimed at training voice recognition software to better understand individuals with ALS. Former New Orleans Saint Steve Gleason is battling ALS while giving a voice to those losing their ability to speak. Gleason’s nonprofit organization in New Orleans provides clinical and support services to individuals sharing his same neurodegenerative disease diagnosis. In this segment, we learn about this important project and meet the people benefitting from it.
