Compressed Sense MRI

Описание: An MRI uses magnets to take images of a part of your body. “Sometimes you might start with an x-ray, or an ultrasound, or a CT, but that may or may not answer the clinical question or there still may be one question left. Then they go and have an MRI because it gives us the best soft tissue detail,” said Neuroradiologist Dr. Cory Duffek.

A typical MRI scan can take up to a half hour and during that time, it’s critical that patients stay perfectly still. “Once we start can you start moving the images start to look blurry and then it gets harder for someone like myself to try to make the correct diagnosis because I’m looking at blurry images rather than nice crisp, clean images,” said Dr. Duffek.

It’s one of the reasons why Lee Health invested in state of the art compressed sense MRIs in our outpatient facilities. “The faster we can get this information, the better because the error adds up over time, If it’s a 30 minute scan and you’re moving the whole time not good, but if we can make it a 15 minute scan and there’s just a little bit of motion that net product will be better,” said Dr. Duffek.

The Compressed Sense technology can cut imaging time by up to 50%. “It allows us to collect less information shorter scan times, but still create an image that myself as a radiologist can look at and go.
