Today, we're going to be taking a look at part number C48007. This is the Curt Pintle Hook with a 2-inch ball. This unit is designed for 2-inch hitches. The combination ball hook is going to allow you to haul up to 16,000 pounds with the pintle hook, or up to 10,000 pounds when using the chrome-plated 2-inch ball, so you've got the best of both worlds with this unit. The pintle hook and hitch ball combo is going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion here is going to slide into the receiver tube of your hitch. The pintle hook is going to connect to lunette ring couplers, and then the hitch ball, again, the 2-inch hitch ball, that's going to connect to your standard ball coupler. The overall unit's made from a strong, forged, solid-steel construction.

You'll see here on the back side, nice, solid steel. We do not have a hollow shank. It's also going to feature rust-resistant finishes, so you're going to have the black powder coat finish on the actual mount and pintle hook area. Everything you see that's black is going to have that powder coat finish on it. Then, you're going to have the chrome-plated hitch ball. You have the nice little safety pin up here.

That's going to keep the latch in a closed position when you're connected to a lunette ring. To open that up to use with a standard 2-inch coupler or make the connection to a lunette ring, you simply undo the safety pin, pull back on the T-handle, and then pull back on that upper mechanism. In this position, you can make the connection to a lunette ring coupler. You can drop your hitch ball coupler over the 2-inch hitch ball, and if you're wanting to use it with your standard ball coupler, you simply reinsert the pin in this up position, and that's going to keep this mechanism from being able to close back down on top of the coupler. It's a really nice system to have in place. Again, the safety pin's going to be attached with a chain.

That way, you don't ever have to worry about misplacing or losing the safety pin. Again, this portion back here, this is our shank that slides into our 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch receiver. The pin-hole diameter is going to measure 5/8 of an inch. This does not come with your hitch pin and clip, or hitch lock. Those items are sold separately.

You can refer to our website and check out some different options on there. When it comes to lunette ring couplers, this will fit lunette ring couplers with a minimum inner diameter of 2 and 1/2 inches. This unit, when it comes to the pintle hook, is going to offer a gross towing weight of 16,000 pounds. When it comes to the 2-inch hitch ball, it's going to offer a gross towing weight of 10,000 pounds. A few measurements to go over really quick: Taking a look at the overall length, measuring from edge to edge, that's going to give us a measurement of about 15 and 1/4 of an inch. The length that we have from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the pintle hook area, that's going to give us a measurement of 9 and 1/2 inches. The length from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball, that's going to give us a length of 11 and 1/2 inches, and then the distance that we have from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the shank, that's going to give us a measurement of about 2 and 5/8 of an inch. This is a really simple installation. I have a receiver tube here today, so I'm going to go ahead and show you how this would slide in. Simply place it into your hitch. You're going to push it in until you get your pin hole to line up. Then, this is where you would install your 5/8 inch pin and clip, or your hitch pin lock. That's going to do it for our review of part number C48007. This is the Curt Pintle Hook with the 2-inch ball. Again, with the pintle hook, you're going to have a 16,000 pound capacity, and when using the ball, you're going to have a 10,000 pound capacity. .
