A hidden gem in Zanzibar yet to be discovered by many, Zanzibar's highest elevation is about 120m above the sea level and that is where "The Masingini Forest" is located. Let's agree to call it the roof of Zanzibar Island 😄. Just like how Mount Kilimanjaro is Considered as the roof of Africa 😅
The forest is surrounded by 13 villages and known for its naturally formed gullies of over 35 meters deep and thus the name of the place "Masingini" meaning the place of the gullies.
Unlike Jozani forest, the Masingini forest also offers a chance to spot the Zanzibar red colobus monkeys and several other rare and endemic species of Plants and Animals.
