For written instructions and the code, see the Instructable: https://www.instructables.com/No-Osci...
For the set-up of the project, see part one: • No Oscilloscope? Try an Arduino (Part 2)
In this part two, I show how this project can be used to demonstrate the effects of capacitors or resistors connected in parallel or in series with a 555 Timer in astable operation. I show the basic calculations, then demonstrate on the Arduino's serial monitor. Then I show how the serial plotter can be used to visualize the changes of the output pin and the capacitor.
Here is a basic timeline of this video:
0:00 – Introduction
1:09 – Explaining the resulting resistance of connecting resistors in series and parallel
3:33 - Explaining the resulting capacitance of connecting capacitors in series and parallel
5:35 - Running the Arduino serial monitor to see the results of series and parallel
11:55 – Simple Arduino code for displaying voltages on the serial plotter
14:47 – Using the serial plotter to show the square wave of the output pin
15:15 - Using the serial plotter to show the sawtooth wave of the capacitor charging and discharging
