Space Launch System (SLS) Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) Qualification Motor 2 (QM-2) underwent a static test at Orbital ATK's test facility in Promontory, Utah, on 28 June 2016, at 15:05 UTC (11:05 a.m. EDT). During the approximately two-minute test, QM-2 burned through about five and a half tons of solid propellant each second. SLS Qualifications Booster Test 2 was a cold motor test (cold-fire test), with SRB components cooled to 40 degrees before firing to assess the motor’s performance at the low end of its temperature range.
