We’ve all seen it: deep splits, extreme backbends, and bending in ways that make us say, “Wow, how do they do that?”
But what if I told you that extreme flexibility might not be healthy—and could actually lead to injury?
In this reel, I’m showing you the difference between extreme flexibility (which is often injury-prone) and functional, healthy flexibility (which is what we should be aiming for!).
✅ Functional flexibility isn’t about touching your toes with ease or contorting your body into wild shapes.
It’s about moving your body in a way that feels good, supports your joints, and allows for full range of motion without pain.
🛑 Remember: Being able to bend like a pretzel doesn’t equal good health. Functional flexibility is about strength, mobility, and listening to your body, not pushing it too far.
So, the next time you’re on your mat or in a class, focus on form, breath, and mindful movement—not just flexibility for the sake of showing off.
