Meet Punch-kun (or simply Punch), the adorable baby Japanese macaque who has captured hearts worldwide! Born on July 26, 2025, at Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan, this tiny 500g baby was abandoned by his mother right after birth due to extreme heat and exhaustion. With no other macaque in the troop stepping up to care for him, zoo keepers hand-raised him and saved his life.But surviving wasn't enough—Punch struggled with loneliness, insecurity, and rejection from the group. To help with his emotional development, caretakers gave him an orange stuffed orangutan toy (from IKEA!), which quickly became his "surrogate mom."
