Rothschild family is the richest family on earth since the 19th century up to present day. The name Rothschild became synonymous with extravagance and great wealth; and, the family was renowned for its art collecting, for its palaces, as well as for its philanthropy. By the end of the 19th century, the family owned, or had built, at the lowest estimates, over 41 palaces, of a scale and luxury perhaps unparalleled even by the richest royal families or
world notorious dictators.
5 AMAZING PALACES/MANSION BEQUEATHED OR DONATED TO CHARITY BY ROTHSCHILD FAMILY:
1. Waddesdon Manor in Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire, England, donated to the National Trust by the family in 1957. Built between 1874 and 1889 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild. Waddesdon Manor won Visit England Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category in 2017.
2. Schloss Hinterleiten, donated to charity by the family in 1905.
The Hinterleiten Castle in Hinterleiten in the Lower Austrian community of Reichenau an der Rax was built between 1884 and 1889 for Nathaniel Meyer Freiherr von Rothschild.
3. Château de Ferrières, the largest château of the 19th century, was built in 1854. It is set on a 30 km2 (12 sq mi) estate outside Paris. It's massive library held more than 8,000 volumes. 4. Ascott House, donated to charity by the family in 1947. Located in Buckinghamshire, England. It is set in a 3,200-acre (13 km2) estate. In 1873 it was acquired by Baron Mayer de Rothschild. The Rothschild family had begun to acquire vast tracts of land in Buckinghamshire earlier in the century, on which they built a series of large mansions fr 1852 onwards.
5. Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is located in Nice, France. Built between 1905 and 1912 on a hill with a view of the Mediterranean sea. Nine different gardens surround the house and they are laid out as a sort of journey around the world. You travel from a French garden to an exotic one and from a Spanish garden to a Japanese one. Every garden has it's own style, atmosphere, fountains, pergolas and vegetation.
The villa was built by the Baroness Beatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild
who bequeathed it to the Académie des Beaux-Arts. In 2017, It was offered for sale for 410M dollar.
