Love is the singular most powerful emotion on earth; and though some would say that of hate, it is love that motivates us to put other people before us.

Think about it - it's a human instinct to survive, we are all naturally tuned to protect ourselves and our immediate family first, but when we fall in love with another human being, that human being started off being a complete stranger, and it's only because of love that we allow ourselves to be vulnerable with the person, that drives us to think of their needs, sometimes before our own needs.

It's this same emotion, this love, that can lead us to do things that we wouldn't normally stand for or tolerate; like letting the person treat us badly, like forgiving and continuing loving someone who's hurt us over and over again.

There are a multitude of reasons why we love someone, and sometimes these are reasons that nobody else can ever understand. Love can be extremely crazy, insane even, but it's never stupid.

Because love cannot be explained or justified. There can never be foolish love, but there can be foolish decisions.

We can love someone truly, madly, deeply, but if they mistreat, abuse or betray us, it is up to us to make decisions as to whether continue allowing them to treat us in this manner, or to take our love, and our dignity and our soul back.

There's no right or wrong when it comes to love, only the reality of what is good or isn't good for us.

The measure of a man isn't when he's happy and content, the measure of a man is when things get tough, when things get difficult. How a person behaves when things are not rosy is how we can gauge how true their love for us is.

Relationships aren't easy; so we just try our best. And our best includes always remembering that the love we have for ourselves is ALWAYS as important as the strength of our love for our partner. The quality of our life matters, not just what our heart feels. So here's to love, and to being happy, always.
