In this video, Marc Jovani from Cinematic Composing joins me to discuss rescoring a scene from "The Hobbit: Desolation of Smog." We analyze the structure, tone, and instrumentation of the music and offer suggestions for improvement. We discuss the limitations of using sample libraries and the importance of maintaining energy and threat throughout the scene. We also discuss techniques for hiding the fact that the music is sampled, such as adding reverb and layering with other instruments.
