An Atlas Schindler NeoLift Traction elevator in a newer, mid-rise residential tower in a nice neighborhood of the city. A friend of mine now lives here, so I of course I'd get a video. I was expecting NeoLifts here, mostly due to the time when this tower was built, it was still Atlas Schindler's top-range, flagship model.
This is one of two elevators here, being the passenger car. The service car: • BUSY Atlas Schindler NeoLift Traction Elev...
Like in most apartment buildings, there are 2 identical elevators, one for passengers only, and one for service uses as well as passengers. They are separated by a wall in the Lobby (0), but on all other floors, are side-by-side in the halls. This place is very busy and was a pain to film...
Interior is default, no customizations or additional features. All in stainless steel, with the design cues. Mirror and a very big handrail below it on the back wall. They chose the "spotlight arch" option for the ceiling, which is my favorite. In great shape, clean and well kept, minimal signs of use, wear, and damages. It's very large in size, quite big for passenger elevators, typical of higher-rising NeoLifts, great to fit many people and improve efficiency.
That definitely helps, but they could've gone with 3 elevators here. They get real busy during peak hours. But worse, feature a serious flaw: no duplex interconnected calls on the floors. They're on individual controllers, while sitting right next to each other. Result: tons of unnecessary hall calls. People make a call on both hall stations (add to that the fact that the hall station's indicators only show the direction in which it's car is moving somwehere in the shaft) and when one of the cars arrives, the other one still has a call to be answered there, that the other car already did already answer, so it stops at a floor and nobody is there. Saw this happen all the time while I was here. Waste of electricity, time, ruined efficiency, and horrible traffic management. This is very rare to be seen in this kind of setup, usually when there are 2 or more cars in a group, and each one has it's call station, they're all interconnected to act as a single call for a floor.
Fixtures are the NeoLift's default ones, with only the basic controls, indicators, the norm with the majority of residential ones. Being from the 2010s, it uses the current Atlas Schindler branding, with only Schindler's logo and the name quickly written below it. All buttons still looking and working like new, even the most used ones, surprising given the traffic, it's one of the later NeoLifts, not that old yet, see how they'll keep holding on through usage and time. Infamous for being quite fragile, cracking, and very prone to damage and wear.
For some reason the clock display located to the left of the temperature one is disabled on both elevators... seems like there's something like tape inside there covering it. Why they've done this, I don't have a clue. The temperature one is kind of working right, just skewed, it was mych lower from that inside that cab. Also had a glitch on the floor indicator, "EX" shown, means a communication error between the indicator display and controller.
Performance is the usual and expected, travel is normal, very comfortable all throughout, smooth, seamless speed changes, decent travel speed for the height, all really good as it has to be for what they are. Sometimes shakes around while moving at full travel speed at the lower part of the shaft, that's common with mid/high-rises. But one thing it always does is a little "freefall" to the opposite direction that the car is moving, after the brake release, then moves in the proper direction. Don't know if it's normal or an issue like lack of adjustment, programming on the motor or something, but... it's something I don't see other elevators doing like these do. Doesn't affect anything, but it's noticeable, in both cars.
Motors are epic sounding, it's the same one used in almost all these mid-rise residentials, and always sounds similar. Awesome roaring while changing speeds and accelerating.
Maintenance done by Atlas Schindler, said to be good and reliable.

Rating: 9/10 - Not much beyond a quite basic and simple reisdential-type NeoLift that happens to be mid-rise, but still very cool and interesting nonetheless. Has an epic motor, rides pretty well, is in great shape. Small issues like indicator glitching and "micro-freefalls" when starting, but also big ones like non-interconnected cars, awful traffic management and setup.
