Join me for Day 1 of the Vale of Rheidol Railway’s 2025 Steam Festival, filmed along the stunning Rheidol Valley from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge! This special event marks the long-awaited return to service of No. 9 “Prince of Wales”, freshly overhauled and unveiled in its striking British Rail Corporate Blue livery – the first time this colour has been seen on the railway since 1982.

During this intensive weekend of steam, all three iconic Rheidol Tanks – No. 7 “Owain Glyndŵr” (BR Lined Green), No. 8 “Llywelyn” (BR Black with Lion-and-Wheel Crest), and No. 9 “Prince of Wales” (BR Blue) – ran together in authentic BR liveries, joined by NGG13 Garratt No. 60 “Drakensberg” for added power and variety.

Captured at multiple locations including Aberystwyth, Nantyronen, Capel Bangor, Aberffrwd, Llanbadarn Bridge, and Devil’s Bridge, this video features all five departures from the day and showcases the best of the Vale of Rheidol’s preserved steam heritage.
