For the first time ever, UNESCO has named not a single dish/recipe but the entire Italian cuisine as a way of life, as culture as a patrimony of humanity. Thus in December of 2025 “Italian cuisine: sustainability and biocultural diversity” became UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity! This means it it something valued and worth protecting!
The acknowledgement came out of the efforts of three parties in partnership: the Accademia della Cucina Italiana, the Casa Artusi Foundation, and the Italian magazine "La Cucina Italiana."
So what does Italian Cuisine mean to YOU? And what does the recent UNESCO recognition tell us about Italian cuisine? These and many other cultural nuances will be the subject of lively conversation between a group of friends from Casa Artusi. Each will share their relationship with Italian home cooking and the rituals and the overall culture surrounding it.
