Описание: The issue of human hair smuggling connected to Tirumala Temple during the rule of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has again become a major topic of discussion in Andhra Pradesh. In 2021, security forces from Assam Rifles received secret information near the Mizoram–Myanmar border. Normally, soldiers there catch smugglers carrying drugs, gold, or weapons. But during this operation, they stopped two suspicious trucks and discovered something shocking. Inside the trucks were about 3,000 kilograms of human hair packed in 120 bags, being transported without proper documents. Investigators later found that the hair reportedly came from devotees who donated their hair at Tirumala Temple. Usually, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams sells this hair through a transparent e-auction system, which brings hundreds of crores of rupees in revenue every year. However, this particular stock was allegedly being smuggled illegally through Myanmar to reach wig markets in China, where Indian temple hair has very high demand. Political leaders such as Beeda Ravichandra from the Telugu Desam Party have raised the issue again, claiming that such large-scale smuggling could not happen without political support during the YSR Congress Party government. Many devotees feel hurt and angry because they donate their hair as a sacred offering to Lord Venkateswara. They believe that if corruption happened in such a holy place, the truth must be fully investigated and the people responsible must be punished.
