Ask anyone; which is the hottest e-bike right now? And without hesitation, there’s a really high probability that their response will be the new Unno Mith.
And it’s easy to see why.
This enduro-ready e-bike is powered by the excellent DJI Avinox motor where the top-end Mith Pro weighs under 21.3kg. And that’s with an 800Wh battery and zero compromises in component choices.
So is the new Unno Mith an SL enduro e-bike or full power? Actually, it’s both, all wrapped up in a sleek carbon package.
How did Unno deliver such a competitive bike? To find out, we headed to the Unno HQ in Barcelona, Spain, to meet with Cesar Rojo, the man behind Unno Bikes and the Mith.
Cesar talks candidly about how far along Unno was in the development process with the new Bosch CX and SX equipped Miths, before making a decisive u-turn and switching to the DJI Avinox motor. Adding that the slender 800Wh battery, compact Avinox motor and seamless DJI integration from this lightweight e-bike system made his choice a relatively easy one.
But it’s not just the DJI motor that makes the Mith desirable, even if 1000 watts peak power is nice to have at your disposal. With the Mith, Unno has also hit upon the sweet spot in travel that a lot of modern e-bike riders crave. Designed around the 170mm Fox 38 Factory fork, the twin-link rear suspension on the Mith delivers 160mm rear travel. And with revised kinematics and less anti-squat than the previous generation Mith, it’s designed as a do-it-all enduro e-bike.
Other improvements over the old Mith include bigger pivot bearings with additional dust seals for durability, improved seat post insertion and easier access to the adjusters on the rear shock. The frame comes in three sizes, S1 to S3 and Cesar explains why there’s zero geometry adjustment on the Mith, even though the prototype bike had a high and low geometry setting.
