Описание: Today Phillipa shows us the 1710 bed Hangings from The Crewel Work Collection which is the inspiration for Phillipa’s new design kit, King Ho Ho.

This set of bed hangings and pelmet feature exotic birds of paradise between the borders of a vine and grape - including the Ho Ho Bird.

Due to the Victorian practice of dividing sets of bed curtains between museums to share their beauty, it is unusual to find a full set of four curtains with pelmet. However The Crewel Work Company is so fortunate to such a piece.

Phillipa featured the bed hangings and pelmet as they could have been used on a four-poster bed in her book ‘A Collection of Crewel Work’ and has studied the piece.

From her knowledge of the design, she has created this replica of the original 18th Century crewel work.

A trailing vine connects these birds and single leaf "spot motifs", which were increasingly fashionable on bed hangings and clothing at this time.

The colours for this replica design are our true to the original hangings found on the undated reverse side of this design.
