Plein air painting the wild coastline at Snapper Point on Australia's Central Coast with my mate ‪@zachampson‬ . We set up to capture this stunning view of rugged cliffs and crashing waves on a beautiful sunny day - but Mother Nature had other plans with the wind.

In this video, I'm showing you how to approach a coastal plein air painting using loose, confident brushwork.

Despite the challenging windy conditions (which nearly blew my easel over!), this was such a joy to paint. There's nothing quite like being outside with a friend, surrounded by this incredible scenery.

You'll see my process for tackling a wild seascape on location, including:

How to simplify complex coastal scenes
Using big, broad brush marks for a loose painting style
