In order to recruit the Shadow Guys to your side, you must spare 25 of them. Normally, you will need to fulfill that requirement by battling a ton of them. However, Toby Fox made it so that you can shred their contracts in one of the scenes in the game and instantly recruit 20 of them to your side, which significantly removes the player's need to battle a ton of them in the game.
