Shad Fishing Techniques

Описание: Basic Shad fishing techniques and video clips showing some how to tips about fishing for shad.

Shad fishing on the Columbia River during the spawning run up river to lay eggs approximately between the middle of May thru the middle of June every year (time-frames my vary).

What makes this a great opportunity to experience and learn is it falls on the FREE FISHING WEEKENDS for both Oregon and Washington in the beginning of June (check regulations for specific dates)!!!

THINGS TO REMEMBER:
1. Cast upriver
2. Keep the slack out of your line
3. Let your line drift into the main current
4. Feel the line tighten in the faster moving current
5. Let it drift as long as possible in the faster moving current
6. When current lightens - retrieve line quickly to avoid snagging the bottom
7. Repeat until your catch a fish.
8. HAVE FUN AND ENJOY WITH OTHERS!!!
9. Always remember you are there to relax and stop thinking about life's stresses.
10. MOST IMPORTANT - If you don't catch a fish that this is called fishing and not catching!!!

Equipment List:
9 foot Lamiglas X-11 Salmon/Steelhead Spinning Rod
Shimano Symetre 4000fi Spinning Reel
12lb Test KastKing Monofilament Fishing Line
Colored Jigheads & Shad Dart Hooks
Bullet Weights Hollow 1# Lead Wire (Cut Hollow Core Weights)
Plastic Beads (Larger than top fishing rod eye)

Fishing Setup:
Shad Dart or Jighead tied to your leader line.
Leader Line (same pound test as reel) and approximately the length of your rod.
Leader line then tied to a black barrel swivel.
Before you tie main line to your swivel attach your plastic bead, your hollow core weight and then to your swivel.
