U.S. forces struck an Iranian vessel after it sailed dangerously close to the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group in the Arabian Sea. A U.S. Navy warship first attempted to fire at the vessel using a Mark-45 deck gun but missed. An armed helicopter was then launched and fired two Hellfire missiles, hitting the Iranian ship. The status of the vessel and crew remains unknown. The incident comes amid escalating war between the United States and Iran. With two U.S. carriers deployed in the region, tensions are rising across the Middle East’s critical maritime routes.

Speaking in front of supporters in Kentucky, U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States has 'won' the war against Iran, despite Iran continuing to strike Israel and the surrounding region. Trump claims U.S. forces have significantly degraded ⁠Iran's military but said he's resisting a speedy end to the war.

In a fresh statement amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia, Donald Trump has said that stopping Iran is more important than rising oil prices.
Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the United States will not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons, adding that Washington will do everything necessary to prevent what he called Iran’s “evil empire” from surviving.
