Welcome to an aerial/drone tour of the Varanasi Ring Road project - India’s ambitious route to streamline traffic around one of the world’s oldest and most sacred cities.

🔷 Project Overview
Spanning nearly 60 km, this six-lane bypass connects key national highways-NH‑56 (Lucknow–Varanasi), NH‑233 (Azamgarh-Varanasi), NH‑29 (Gorakhpur-Varanasi), and the Ayodhya-Varanasi route-to significantly reduce inner-city congestion .
1 Phase I (16 km) was inaugurated in Nov 2018; Phase II.1 (17 km) opened in Oct 2021; the remaining 27 km and a 1.8 km six-lane Ganga bridge are underway, with eastern section due by Dec 2025.

Heavy trucks and transit traffic can now bypass Varanasi, reducing fuel usage, air pollution, and city traffic snarls .
Improved access to Sarnath and ease of commuting between Varanasi and neighboring districts like Chandauli .
