Dad and I have been attempting to get in touch with a neighbor regarding an issue involving a fence on my property. According to two separate surveys that we have had done, the fence appears to be encroaching onto our land by about 10 feet and 4 inches.
Before taking further action, Dad and I were hoping to see if his surveys reflect the same measurements or if there might be any discrepancies. Ideally, we would like to resolve this matter without resorting to legal action, but we are concerned that if this issue cannot be amicably addressed, we may need to consider involving the courts.
If there is a fence on your property that you believe does not belong there, here are steps you can take:
0:00 Intro
3:21 Verify Property Boundaries
4:00 Talk to the Neighbor
5:12 Document the Fence
5:58 Check Local Laws
6:39 Send a Formal Letter
7:35 Mediation
8:31 Legal Action
Taking a calm, measured approach usually works best when dealing with property disputes. Keep communication open and seek professional advice when necessary. We will keep you updated on the progress of this situation.
