The Great Chicago Fire on October 8, 1871, was one of the most devastating fires of all time. At the same time as the Great Chicago Fire, the Great Peshtigo Fire in Wisconsin was burning; it destroyed 1.5 million acres, one of the biggest fires in the history of the world. The Port Huron Fire in Port Huron Michigan was ALSO going on at this time; it burnt 1.2 million acres. How is it possible that 3 of the most devastating fires in the history of the world all happened on the same night, hundreds of miles apart? Could they have been caused by a comet impacting the earth that night?
