What documents do I need when marrying a Chinese citizen in China?
Canadian citizens who wish to marry a Chinese citizen in China need to provide the following documents:
• A non-spouse certificate, containing your name, sex, place and date of birth, nationality, ID number, marital status, and the name of fiancée;
• A divorce certificate and ex-spouse's nationality certificate;
• Certificate of employment or reliable income.
All documents need to have a Chinese translation legalized by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General in Canada. The originals have to be notarized by a notary public, legalized by the Government of Canada, and then authenticated by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General in Canada.
