The Great Inka Road: Engineering an Empire exhibit opened on June 26, 2015 at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). Ideum worked with scholars from NMAI and the University of Tarragona to create The Cusco Experience, a 3D model of the Inka capital city as it appeared in 1531 CE.
Visitors can experience 6 flythrough tours of the city, 6 photo galleries, 20 videos narrated by experts, 12 panoramic virtual reality images (captured by Ideum), and 1 amazingly detailed 3D scan of the famous Hatumrumyac stone captured by the Smithsonian 3D team. Ideum built the final 3D model, designed and programmed the experience, and participated in the media gathering in Peru.
