On 30th June 2024, the Shrine at Fordham Abbey, situated near Cambridge, welcomed the spirits of Matsuno'o Grand Shrine in Kyoto and it is finally established as the first branch shrine of its kind outside Japan, and was named 'Fordham Matsuno'o Shrine'
Matsuno'o Grand Shrine in Kyoto is known to worship Sake God as well as God for Marine Transportation.
Two deities are; Oyama-gui-no-kami and Ichikishima-hime-no-mikoto.
Fordham Matsuno'o Shrine will act as a spiritual guardian watching over the prosperity of the Sake industry; all breweries, Japanese or otherwise, involving in promoting sake internationally.
Shinto brings people together in the worship of deities - the kami.
And it is through 'sake' that humans and these deities are said to interact.
