Work is underway to repair the substantial underslip at Devil’s Elbow Project I, just south of Tūtira on SH2, to fix damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle. Project I Devil’s Corner is the last and most complex recovery projects in the SH2 Devil’s Elbow section.
There are three stages of works:
Stage 1 – enabling works (shown in this video)
Stage 2 – Concrete and structural works
Stage 3 – Earthworks, drainage and pavements
Final road alignment activated and Devil’s Elbow is back to two lanes
This project is programmed to be complete by Christmas 2025.
