Noja is a tourist destination on the Cantabrian Coast that stands out for its beautiful beaches and natural marshlands famous for its bird-watching spots.

Long beaches like Trengandín and Ris, with kilometers of beautiful and clean golden sand stretches, are Noja's main attraction. Two tips: enjoy the spectacular sunsets by watching them at low tide and walking along the moon-like landscape that it forms.

Playa de Tregandin stretches for about 6kms making in one of the longest beaches in Cantabria. It is located down the hill from the church of San Pedro. During low, it will uncover a rock formation which juts out to the sea. Also, many rock pools will emerge during low tide, creating a great opportunity to explore. Playa de Tregandin has long stretches of shallow water, and because of that, this beach is excellent for swimming. The crystal-clear water offers a perfect opportunity for snorkelling and scuba diving. You can also feed the fish here on this beach.

This very long beach is also one of the quietest beaches in Cantabria so much so that a section of it is allowed to be a nude beach.

Isla San Pedro
During the low tide, you can walk across to the Isla san Pedro, the highest point of Noja. This is also the home to the hermitage of San Pedro. This beautiful chapel is entangled in the overgrown bushes and cannot be reached otherwise, but that makes it even more fascinating. The legend surrounding Isla San Pedro says that the image of San Pedro was kept in the chapel and that it was brought to Noja town church for prayers. It says that, on the day that this did not happen, there was a huge wave that crashed over the town.

Rock Formations
The combination of low tide and the sunset makes a beautiful sight of the rock formations putting them on full display. If you’d like a better view of these rock formations, then you can climb to the viewpoint on the clifftop at the far end of Playa de Tregandin.
