In this video, I forge a double bit Viking axe from two railroad spikes using a traditional scarf welding technique. I forge the scarf joints and weld the spikes together so the original railroad spike heads become the two cutting blades.
This build focuses on proper forge welding technique — Forging The scarfs, setting the weld and then shaping It into a symmetrical double-bit axe. After welding, I punch and drift the eye, Forge the blades , grind the bevels, and the edges.
Turning reclaimed railroad steel into a functional Viking-style double axe using traditional blacksmithing methods.
⚒️ What You’ll See in This Build:
• Scarf joint preparation
• Traditional forge welding
• Using spike heads as axe blades
• Forging a double bit profile
• Punching & drifting the eye
• Grinding, sharpening & finishing
If you’re into blacksmithing, forge welding, Viking weapons, axe making, or railroad spike projects, this one shows a way to maximize material and create a symmetrical double bit axe.
