Miele W1 WCR 890 WPS - Easy care 30°C/86°F w/ Extra gentle + Maximum rinse level

Das Pflegeleicht-Programm. Für viele, wenn nicht sogar für alle Hersteller mittlerweile ein Programm, was mit "Schonwaschgang" nicht mehr viel gemein hat. Im Pflegeleicht-Programm soll man die Wäsche waschen, die mit einem Strich unter dem Waschbottich auf dem Etikett des Textils gekennzeichnet ist. Das können, je nach Hersteller des Textils, simple Baumwoll-Shirts sein, die natürlich auch im Programm Baumwolle in der Regel keinen Schaden nehmen, aber auch empfindliche Textilien aus Viskose oder Mischgeweben werden so gekennzeichnet. Schaut man sich nun die Pflegeleicht-Programme von Maschinen der 90er und 2000er an, und vergleicht diese mit den heutigen, merkt man schnell, dass sich etwas verändert hat. Die Laufzeiten des "Schonwaschgangs" werden immer länger (mittlerweile im Schnitt 2 Stunden und 30 Minuten, einige Miele-Geräte, wie meine, halten mit 1:59h den Rekord für die kürzeste Laufzeit), der Waschrhythmus immer intensiver, die maximale Schleuderdrehzahl immer höher und das Endschleudern immer länger. Wo bei der Miele Softtronic W 2241 oder der Bosch Maxx WFO 2480 aus den 2000ern nur 900 U/min, bzw. 800 U/min möglich waren, sind mittlerweile 1200 U/min zum Standard geworden. Die BSH-Gruppe schießt den Vogel nun gänzlich ab: bei den neuesten Geräten ist sogar 1400 U/min möglich. Und das ganze 7 Minuten lang. Aber verwundert ist man da nicht, wenn Miele im Automatic Plus Programm auch 1400 U/min zulässt und BSH im "Mix" Programm 1600 U/min, beides Programme, die zum Waschen von empfindlichen und unempfindlichen Textilien geeignet sein sollen. Schwierig.

Für mich ist das Pflegeleicht-Programm von Miele aus der Softtronic Baureihe der 2000er das beste Programm. Laufzeit: 1h, Intervall-Zwischenschleudern, hohe Wasserstände im Spülen, Schon-Rhythmus, max 900 U/min und sogar eine Laugenabkühlung am Ende der Hauptwäsche. Im Englischen nennt Miele das Pflegeleicht-Programm nicht "Easy-care", sondern "Minimum iron". Und genau das war es damals. Die Textilien kamen schön knitterfrei raus.
Aber auch wenn das Pflegeleicht-Programm meiner Miele heute nicht mehr viel mit dem von der W 2241 gemeinsam hat, bietet Miele einem dennoch eine Vielzahl an Optionen, wie man das Programm schonender gestalten kann. Und siehe da: Maximaler Wasserstand im Spülen, Hydromatic-Rhyhtmus, wie früher mit langen Pausen, dank "Extra schonend", und aufgrund der nicht voll ausgenutzten 4kg hat sie die Laufzeit nochmal reduziert und insgesamt nur 90 Minuten gebraucht. So lob ich mir das. Diese flexible Programmgestaltung bietet sonst kein anderer Hersteller. Und um ehrlich zu sein, Wäsche mit "Schongang"-Etikett, welche wirklich empfindlich sind, kommen bei mir nur auf Feinwäsche in die Maschine, oder eben mit den Optionen wie hier.

The Easy-care cycle. A cycle, which has with "gentle care" not much in common today, doesn't matter from which brand. You should wash synthetic fabrics, like Polyester or viscose, and easy-care cotton stuff on this cycle, normally they are labeled with a line below the tub on the textile label. This label tells you "Gentle cycle", and if you compare the Easy-care cycle from washing machines made in the 90s or 2000s with the Easy-care cycle from modern washers, you will quickly realize, that something has changed. The duration of the cycle gets longer and longer (average running time: 2 hours 30 minutes, some Miele washers, like mine, hold the record for the shortest running time with 1:59h), the wash rhyhtm more and more intensive, the maximum spin speed higher and higher and the final spinning gets also even longer. While on the Miele W 2241 or the Bosch Maxx WFO 2480 (both from the 00s) 900rpm/800rpm was the highest possible spin speed, 1200rpm is the new standard since years. BSH brings on a new level now: on their newest models the max spin speed is 1400rpm on Easy-care. And that for whole 7 minutes. But that doesn't suprise me, when "Automatic Plus" from Miele or the "Quick/Mix" cycle from BSH (both cycles to wash Cottons and synthetics together) make 1400rpm/1600rpm possible. Difficult.

In my eyes, the Easy-care cycle from my old Miele W 2241 was the best. Running time: 1h, high waterlevel during rinsing, interval intermediate spinning, water cooling after main wash (also on 30°C/86°F), max spin speed 900rpm. The cycle is also called "Minimum iron" instead of "Easy-care" on Miele washers. And that was true on the old cycle. The laundry came out nearly wrinkle-free. But even though the Easy-care cycle from the WCR 890 has not much in common with the old one, you still have the possibility to create a cycle which comes very close "Gentle care". I set on the maximum rinse level and also chose the "Extra gentle", which makes the washer use the old "Hydromatic" tumbling with long breakes, during main wash and rinsing, just like on the W 2241. There is no other brand where you can choose options that much flexible.
