Broadsheet magazine: "The outdoor sculpture exhibition is a titan of the Sydney arts scene. This year over 100 sculptures will sit along the coast and on the sand for the 26th Sculpture by the Sea Bondi exhibition.
Since 1997, artists from all over the world have brought heavy sculptures to the Bondi to Bronte shoreline. Since then, Sculpture by the Sea has become the world’s largest free outdoor sculpture exhibition. In 2024, over 100 sculptures will sit along the two-kilometre coastal walk. Organisers expect to welcome 450,000 people over the 18-day exhibition.
Leading Australian sculptors contributing to the exhibit include May Barrie, Anne Ferguson, Geoffrey Bartlett, Bert Flugelman, Michael Le Grand, Louise Paramor, Ron Robertson-Swann OAM, Ken Unsworth and Hossein Valamanesh. This year’s exhibition has a particular focus on India, with a showcase of 12 works by sculptors from the region. Three notable Japanese – Haruyuki Uchida, Keizo Ushio and Toshio Iezumi – will exhibit alongside nine other Japanese artists. Thirty-five artists are exhibiting for the first time."

At Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2024, visitors and artists will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition through the official Sculpture by the Sea app.
The GPS enabled app offers a free, interactive way for visitors to easily navigate around the Sculpture by the Sea exhibitions and discover details about the artworks, and the talented artists who created them.
The app is free to download and includes an interactive map, catalogue details of all exhibiting artists at each exhibition, stunning photographs, news and award announcements. The app also gives users the option to “like” an unlimited number of artists’ sculptures, creating a personal shortlist of favourite sculptures ready to be voted for in the popular Allens People’s Choice and Kids’ Choice Prizes.
Audio tours of some of the sculptures in the exhibition will be available via a small donation. Created by Dr Michael Hill, Head of Art History and Theory, National Art School, each piece of audio lasts for around one minute and offers unique insights into the artists and their sculptures. Look out for the artworks with a headphone icon on the site number.
A donation of $6 will unlock all audio recordings available.
Voluntary tax-deductible donations – starting at $5 – can also be made directly through the app.
The app will be updated for each Sculpture by the Sea exhibition. Currently, the app features three exhibitions: Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2024, Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2023 and the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail.
Details about Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2024 will be live on the app from Friday 18 October.
The development of the Sculpture by the Sea App is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW. Audio recordings were kindly made with the assistance of Smith & Western Sound."
