Описание: The Rittreck View 5x7 is one of the cheapest entry points into large format 4x5 because most are fitted with the 4x5 reducing back, and the 5x7 label tends to dissuade people from buying it.

When you want to try something a bit bigger than 4x5, the jump to 8x10 is huge in terms of the size and weight of the equipment and the resulting difficulty in handling. 5x7 on the other hand offers almost double the film area but the equipment is still reasonably easy to handle, and most common 4x5 lenses 90mm and longer also cover 5x7, albeit with a wider angle of view – a typical 90mm is wide on 4x5 becomes ultra-wide on 5x7, and a 180mm long-standard lens on 4x5 becomes a short-standard on 5x7.

The main down-side to the 5x7 format is that there are fewer colour films available, however most popular b+w films from Ilford and Fomapan are easy to find and frequently in stock at major suppliers.

Note that I haven't mentioned the cost. Certainly the per-exposure cost rises with area but this is balanced by the reduced number of images you typically take with large format compared to 35mm and 120 roll film. With sheet film I often spend a couple of hours in the field and take only one or two exposures, but in contrast to 35mm and 120 I don't need to wait to finish the roll, I can go home and process them without delay and see the results in a couple of hours. That's as close to instant gratification as film gets.
