In Bhadrak’s Chandbali area, local residents have blocked the main road at Kherang Bazaar by torching tyres in protest. They are demanding the immediate arrest of local sarpanch Jitendra Biswal after an incident in Kherang Panchayat where he allegedly struck some local youths while driving a vehicle. No administrative officials or police higher authorities have arrived at the scene yet, according to the protesters.

The agitators sitting on the road say they will continue the blockade until the sarpanch is arrested. They claim Chandbali police had previously rounded up people involved in a separate alleged roadside assault late last night, but have not yet taken action against the sarpanch, whom they hold responsible.

Local protesters have been staging the road obstruction since early today, asserting that arresting the sarpanch is necessary to restore peace and justice in the market area.
