SAF officer charged over death of NSF Liu Kai in Bionix accident

A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) officer has been charged over the death of full-time national
serviceman Liu Kai in a 2018 training accident. Liu was driving a Land Rover when a Bionix infantry
fighting vehicle reversed into it and partially crushed it. Court documents said Captain Ong Lin Jie
was the Land Rover's vehicle commander. He is accused of failing to keep a safe distance of 30m
between the vehicle and the Bionix. Five others were charged for leaking photos of the incident.
