The Met Police said it arrested 230 people and recovered 1,000 phones during a week-long clampdown on gangs and individuals engaged in mobile phone thefts.
Police say the trade in mobile phones is worth £50m a year, with Westminster and the West End most at risk from groups of roving mobile phone snatch squads.
