Millionaires Tax faces Tuesday hearing, questions about pro sports impact

Описание: A proposed “Millionaires Tax” is headed for a public test Tuesday at the state Capitol, where opponents plan a rally outside and dozens of people have signed up to testify inside a House hearing room, arguing the measure amounts to an unconstitutional income tax.

Despite the looming legal questions, Democratic budget writers in both chambers have already built the tax into their supplemental budget proposals.

Sen. June Robinson, a Democrat from Everett who chairs the Senate Ways and Means Committee, said critics should point to specific cuts if they want lawmakers to abandon the idea.
