Surbir Singh Khalsa and Harjeet Singh giving interview in Dari to media on this week's attack on Karte Parwan Gurdwara, in the Afghan capital Kabul in which a Sikh man Savinder Singh and security guard Ahmed Jan were killed.
Part one - Surbir Singh’s testimony.
I am Surbir Singh Khalsa, a permanent resident of the historical Ghazni province [Afghanistan]. As you have heard [in reports] and are watching, yesterday morning at around 6:20 AM a heart-wrenching attack was conducted on the central Dharamshala located in Karta-e-Parwan of Kabul. During this attack, as you can see, pretty much the whole Dharamshala was destroyed and one of our Sikh community members, Samandar Singh Khalsa, was martyred and our security guard who was guarding the gate was also martyred; and the whole Dharamshala has been destroyed. It was a very heart-wrenching attack. We were very hopeful and thought that Afghanistan was peaceful now and never wished this kind of an attack would happen. We were hopeful that everyone, whether from Kabul or other provinces who had fled abroad would return to the country, but I know that if the situation continues like this and such attacks continue to happen, no one will dare to come back to their homeland, Afghanistan. We humbly request the Islamic Emirates government, the Mujaheddin, to ensure security so that such an attack and incident does not happen again.
Part Two - Harjeet Singh
My name is Harjeet Singh. Yesterday morning at around 6:30 AM they stormed the Dharamshala; there was a Toyota Corolla vehicle that stopped by our gate and was full of explosives. The driver stormed in and martyred the security guard [doorman] and then went in and basically turned the whole Gurdwara to ruins by explosions. At 6:30 there are limited people here at our Gurdwara and our fixed time [of congregation] is at 7:00 AM; he would have injured or killed many people had he stormed in at 7:00 AM. He stormed in at 6:30 AM and there weren’t many people at the Dharamshala. There were 6 to 8 people inside who fled to safety by jumping over the walls and the roof. Two people jumped through the roof and were injured. My brother in law was taking a shower and he was hit and murdered. After that, the attacker completely destroyed the Dharamshala.
